Teeth Whitening

Our practice offers professional strength bleaching material to be applied at home in custom fabricated whitening trays, usually over the course of 2 weeks, for a very predictably effective whitening result. These products contain carbamide peroxide, which actually bleaches the tooth enamel.

Is bleaching right for me?

If you would like a whiter smile but are unsure if bleaching is the right option for you, please schedule an appointment with us. While most patients are good candidates, certain types of tooth discolorations and staining do not respond as well to the bleaching done in tooth whitening. Also, patients that have existing dental restorations in the esthetic zone (or that show when they smile) may not be good candidates as the restorative material will not change color and therefore may appear obvious and unsightly as the natural adjacent tooth structure lightens.

Are there any side effects?

It is very common for teeth to become sensitive during the period when you are using the teeth bleaching solution. And people who already have sensitivity issues are more likely to experience this. However, using special sensitivity toothpaste for several weeks prior to as well as during treatment can significantly decrease sensitivity issues. Further, this sensitivity is temporary and should lessen once the treatment is finished.
